Do you study mechanical engineering or business administration and engineering with a focus on mechanical engineering and would like to add an international component to your studies consisting of one or two semesters abroad? T.I.M.E. – Top International Managers in Engineering – offers you the chance to complete your studies at RWTH Aachen and to get to know the university system and life at one of the leading technical universities in Valencia. The program allows four students per academic year to participate.

You can enroll in the following courses of study at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, UPV:

  • Máster Universitario en Ingeniería Industrial –Master's in Industrial Engineering, including different specializations
  • Máster Universitario en Ingeniería Química – Master's in Chemical Engineering
  • Máster Universitario en Ingeniería Avanzada de Producción, Logística y Cadena de Suministro – Master's in advanced engineering in production, logistics and supply chains management
  • Máster Universitario en Ingeniería Mecánica – Master's in Mechanical Engineering
 

Frequently asked questions

How does the T.I.M.E. program with UPV work?

You complete your Bachelor's study at RWTH Aachen as usual. Ideally, in order to avoid any delays by participating in the T.I.M.E. exchange, you would begin your Master's studies in a mechanical engineering course of study in the summer semester following the application period. You complete the first Master's semester as usual and then continue your studies for up to 1.5 years at UPV. There you take modules in your specialization and complete a research paper. Modules encompassing a maximum total of 30 CP can be integrated into your current curriculum through a curriculum change.

After your stay at UPV you return to RWTH Aachen and complete your Master's thesis in Aachen. You are supervised by a both a professor from RWTH and UPV. When you are awraded the degree Master of Science RWTH Aachen University, you also receive a Master's degree from UPV.

What services are included when I participate in the program?

When you participate in the T.I.M.E. exchange you are exempt from the tuition fees at the partner university. Additionally, you are guaranteed a room in the dorm, for a fee. You are supervised on site by the partner university's international office.

You receive an ERASMUS scholarship for a duration of 12 months.

What academic performance will I receive credit for when I participate in the program?

Participants can have up to 30CP recognized for their Master's course of study here through a curriculum change. The extended study duration – up to three semesters – is justified by the double degree.

What application documents must be submitted?

Please upload the following documents to the platform Moveon by the application deadline, January 15:

  • Statement of motivation in English, one to two pages
  • Resume in English
  • Transcript of records in English – issued by the Central Examination Office
  • Proof of language skills:
    • Spanish: at least B1- level ( assuming you attend an intensive course at the UPV before the beginning of the semester) 
  • Any certificates of volunteer work

What are the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering's evaluation criteria?

Good academic performance and convincing personal motivation are key to a successful application. Why is an exchange with UPV of particular interest to you? Are there research projects or modules that especially interest you? Do you have a special relationship with the country, culture, language? These are just some questions you can consider in your statement of motivation.

  • January 15 to begin studies the next winter semester

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is responsible for selecting participants. You will be notified of its decision in writing in March.

Your stay abroad begins September of the same year. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Study Abroad Counselling supports you with further preparations should you be nominated.
