DWI – Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials

DWI carries out application oriented research in the fields of macromolecular chemistry soft matter nanotechnology, protein engineering, and membrane technology.

In close cooperation with institutes of RWTH Aachen University (Department of Chemical Engineering AVT-CVT and AVT-EPT), the DWI develops new processes, methods, and building blocks for the design of interactive materials.  These materials are characterized by, for example, self-organization and programmed formation of structures.

The DWI's research attempts to understand the interactions in biohybrid structures, which is key to create interactive materials.

On January 1, 2014, DWI Interactive Materials Research at RWTH Aachen will become a member of the Leibniz Community and thus the first Leibniz Institute in Aachen.
