International Academy
As part of the cooperation between RWTH and the International Academy of RWTH, the Internship Office of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering supervises the mandatory internships of the study programs Computer Aided Conception and Production in Mechanical Engineering M. Sc. („CAME“) and Smart Production Engineering M. Sc. („SPE“).
Computer Aided Conception and Production in Mechanical Engineering M. Sc. („CAME“)
Valid for students with start of studies in 2020 and earlier:
The CAME degree program requires 9 weeks of compulsory internship as part of the required module “Internship”.
The regulations, activities and accreditation requirements are regulated in the "Guidelines for practical work experience" of the study program.
The Internship Office of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering carries out the recognition of internships. The complete internship documentation must be submitted no later than two months after the end of the internship.
At the end of the internship examination, an internship presentation must be given to a professor of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. More information can be obtained from the Internship Office.
Prior work experience that has not been submitted as part of the one-year experience requirement for enrolment can be considered as substitutes for the internship. Please contact the Internship Office for further informations by e-mail.
The e-mail must contain your data, a study certificate and work certificates both referring to your one-year admission requirement and additional work experiences to be considered for accreditation.
Valid for students with start of studies in 2021 or later:
The CAME degree program allows for 9 weeks of compulsory internship as part of the elective "Electives: Internship or Research Project".
The regulations, activities and accreditation requirements are regulated in the "Guidelines for practical work experience" of the study program.

Students are advised to contact the Internship Office of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering before starting the internship and to have the internship contents approved in order to ensure recognition.

Beginning with the 2021 study year, prior work experiences cannot be considered as substitutes for internships. The 9 weeks of internship must be completed during your studies.
Smart Production Engineering M. Sc. (former Networked Production Engineering M. Sc.)
In the SPE degree program, an internship of 12 weeks is possible as part of the elective area "Practical Experience or Elective Courses".
The regulations, activities and recognition requirements are regulated in the "Guidelines for Practical Experience" of the study program.
Internship Office of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering handles the accreditation of internships. The complete documentation of the internship must be submitted no later than two months after the end of the internship.
Students are advised to contact the Internship Office of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering before starting the internship and to have the internship contents approved in order to ensure recognition.
An internship presentation is not required in the NPE degree program.
