Digitalization Strategy for Teaching

Digitalization is firmly anchored in the teaching strategy of RWTH Aachen University in order to optimally develop and support students' skills. Until 2023, RWTH Aachen University will arrange its courses nationwide in such a way that, if it makes sense, they will have digital formats in order to meet the needs of the students and increase the success of their studies. As well as complementing classroom teaching, digital formats will also make it easier for students to acquire skills outside the regular study curriculum.

In order to implement the strategy, the faculties will be provided with funds to test various blended learning formats and, if successful, to disseminate them across the board. At the same time, the internal service facilities that support the process of digitizing teaching will be expanded both financially and in terms of personnel. This approach is in line with the RWTH's enabling culture and has led to a diverse spectrum of best practice examples in the faculties.

The primary goal of the digitization strategy is to establish optimal conditions for excellent teaching and learning at the RWTH in the long term. The strategy is realized by a suitable mix and the integrating use of classical, digital, individual and cooperative elements in the teaching/learning and examination formats.
